Your money supports the person behind idontwanttobebroke.com, after payment processing fees. It’s personal support, not a charitable fundraiser, investment, or purchase of real property. The city is a playful digital thank-you with no monetary value.
Donations are final. No refunds, except where required by law. Monthly donations renew until canceled. Cancel future renewals anytime in “My building.”

What exactly am I donating to?
An individual’s personal support fund. You might be saying thanks for a little task or help, or simply supporting this project. This is not a registered charity and we do not issue charitable tax receipts.
Do I have to give every month?
No. A one-time donation places your building and gives you 30 days to edit it. Monthly donations keep editing active through each paid billing period. Your building stays after editing ends, subject to moderation and the site continuing to operate.
How does my building grow?
Each distinct UTC calendar month containing a successful donation earns one floor, up to five floors. Several donations in one month still earn one floor. All donation amounts follow the same rules. Floors are cosmetic and do not generate money, rewards, or ownership rights.
Can I cancel? Can I get a refund?
You can stop future monthly renewals through My building → Manage donation, which opens Stripe’s secure billing portal. Past donations are final and non-refundable, except where applicable law requires otherwise. Cancellation does not refund previous payments.
How do I come back to my building?
Save the private builder key shown when you donate. This browser remembers you using a secure cookie. Enter the key in My building on another device. Keep it secret: anyone with your key can edit your building and open its billing portal. If lost, contact us from the email used for payment; recovery requires verification.
What can I put on my building?
A nickname and a short sign. Be kind. No hate, harassment, impersonation, private information, or illegal content. Report a building from its information panel. We may hide content that breaks the rules; that does not automatically entitle you to a refund. Anyone can wave at a building, once per browser per UTC day. Waves are just a hello, with no rewards attached.
What happens if the city gets popular?
This first district has 315 supporter plots. We’ll need to add districts when it fills up. If no plot is available, the site will not start a new donation checkout for a building. No one can buy someone else’s plot.
